Berico Technologies is an analysis and technology company founded in 2006 by military veterans and based in Reston, Virginia and Arlington, Virginia. In 2011 it had 80 employees. It has at least one subsidiary company: Berico Tailored Systems.

Intro

Berico was one of three firms, along with Palantir and HBGary, which collectively referred to themselves as Team Themis and which were involved in the conspiracy by which to launch a variety of clandestine attacks on Wikileaks at the behest of their client Hunton & Williams, which itself had been hired by Bank of America to arrange for such a campaign; the U.S. Chamber also requested a proposal from Team Themis on the deployment of a similar campaign of information warfare against several of the organization's enemies. After the conspiracy came to light, Berico execs broke off ties with HBGary and released the following statement:

"Our leadership does not condone or support any effort that proactively targets American firms, organizations or individuals. We find such actions reprehensible and are deeply committed to partnering with the best companies in our industry that share our core values. Therefore, we have discontinued all ties with HBGary Federal. We are conducting a thorough internal investigation to better understand the details of how this situation unfolded and we will take the appropriate actions within our company."

Nonetheless, several Berico employees are known to have been involved with the Team Themis proposals to varying degrees, as shown for instance in this e-mail from January 25th. Berico employee Pat Ryan seems to have been the firm's point man on Team Themis, as evidenced in this e-mail from a few days later.
